Kazuma Kuwabara is Yusuke's former rival and later becomes one of Yusuke's best friends. He is also in the same grade and school with Yusuke and Keiko. He often used to challenge Yusuke in a fight to prove his superiority over him, but always ended up beaten. Despite this, he is still considered as the second strongest fighter among the students. Like Yusuke, he values friendship. He is also seen hanging around with another group of friends that always accompanied him during brawls with other bullies. His friends are dear to him and he's the type of friend that will do anything to protect them. When Yusuke died, he was very devasted and it was then that Yusuke learned about his good side. Kuwabara later accompanied and helped Yusuke in his detective missions. He also possessed spiritual power ( Spirit Sword ) which he can manipulate. Kurama Youko is a five-tailed fox demon who was a fugitive from Makai. He was a thief back then, a good one. One day, he was being hunted and he got injured; his situation was very hostile. Fortunately, he found a way to survive. He turned into a spirit and managed to escape from the hunters. His spirit flew to Ningenkai and managed to possess the body of an unborn child in a woman's womb. When the child was born, he was given the name Shuichi Minamino and was loved and cherished by his mother, Shiori. Shiori's husband died shortly after Shuichi was born. His true purpose of staying in Ningenkai was to recover his strength for mostly 10 years. But 15 years had passed and still, he's still with Shiori. He can't bear to leave his human mother after all she had done for him. Shuichi stayed and took care of her especially in times when she needs him.

As such, he is constantly sucking on a pacifier. When in the human realm however, he transforms himself into a more mature body but keeps the pacifier. Used mostly as comic relief he still possesses a great deal of power but usually stays out of the conflicts his investigators are involved with. He evntually does attend the Ankoku Bujutsukai, but only uses his powers to defend Yusuke's friends from collateral damage in the final apocalyptic battles.

Yukina is a very kind hearted soft spoken girl. She is the twin (although they look nothing alike) of Hiei, but is yet to know it. She is staying with Yusuke and the others because Hiei promised he would find her brother.
She sent out in search of her brother not knowing anything about him and was captured by a business man who sold the tears she cried which turned into gems. Yusuke and the gang of course saves her and she has been with them ever sense and has fallen in love with Kuwabara not to Hiei's liking.
